What we did in 2005

2/19 - Today is cruise day.  We are going on a cruise from Miami to Bahamas, St. Thomas, and Labadee.  Here is our balcony view when we got on the ship.

2/20 - My (Dan) birthday.  We went to the Bahamas and visited Atlantis.  They had a big aquarium where you could see fish.  I even got a birthday cake in my room!!!

2/21 - Today was a day at sea.  We relaxed and had fun.

2/22 - The port of call for today is St. Thomas!  We went to St. John's Trunk Bay.  The beach was great.  On the way we snapped a picture of the ship.  Tonight we got a towel animal on our bed.  Tonight we got upgraded to a mini-suite.  It's got a walk-in closet and a bathtub!

2/23 - Today we are in San Juan, Puerto Rico.  We went to Fort San Cristobal   At the fort I say they had a cannon pointed at our ship.  Actually, this fort doorway is almost a time machine from the old fort to the modern day ships.  Diane and I visit the cathedral in San Juan.  Finally, tonight was another formal night.

2/24 - Labadee, Haiti was our last port of call.  Here we were on a private island/beach.  Here are some panoramas of Hide Away Beack at Labadee. (1, 2)

2/25 - This is our last full day on the ship.  I shot a picture of the inside of the ship and a shot of the pool deck and finally a shot from the Viking Crown lounge at the tippie top of the ship.

6/11 - We attended the wedding our our niece Jill.  She was a beautiful bride.  Here is a picture of her with us.

7/3 - Today we decided to drive over to Nashville, TN and go to the Opry Hotel.  This is a really cool BIG hotel that has different areas.  Here we are in the tropical area.  After we had a wonderful Sunday brunch there we went to Fall Creek Falls.  There we saw a small falls and a really high water fall.

9/2  On Labor Day Weekend we went to Boothbay, Maine.  Our flight going from Knoxville to Maine had a stop in Washington DC.  When we got there we ended up having a 5 hour delay.  When life gives you lemons - make lemonaide.  So, we hopped on the subway at the airport, went to Chinatown and then to the National Archives.  When we got to Boothbay we stayed at a Bed and Breakfast.  The inside looked like this.

9/24 Diane went to Chicago to go to her sister's 60th birthday party.  Here and her sisters had a good time.  The also went to some shows - "Tony and Tina's Wedding" and "Menopause".  I sat at home, ate TV dinners and did laundry.... :(

10-7 Dan's sister Kathy was in.  We went to Cades Cove and saw deer.

10-8 Today we drove over to Biltmore, NC to the Biltmore Estate.  Here is a picture of Dan and Kathy, Dan and Diane, and another with Dan and Diane by a statue.

11-16  Our dog Roodie, sleeping in the kitchen.  After Christmas we lost him.

11-23 Today I took a day off and we went to Knoxville Festival of Trees.  It's a Christmas tree display that Knoxville puts on for charity.  Here is Diane and I by a few trees.

12/25 Today we spent Christmas with Diane's sister Charlene and her family.  This has become sort of our tradition each year.  They always make us feel so welcome and the weather is nice.

12/27 On the way home, we stopped in Orlando and suprised Diane's sister Marilyn but stopped in to see her at her daughter's house.  Talk about a fun suprise.  We then drove a little over 1/2 the way home and stopped for the night.

12/28 Today we got back from Florida.  Our dog Roodie (the blonde one) wasn't doing well and could walk anymore so we had to put him down.  He was a good dog.

12/30 My nephew Eric passed away today.  I tried to get up to Joliet but wasn't able to get there quick enough.  Eric was a wonderful nephew.  I'll always remember him swimming in the pool at Mom and Dad's house.  He loved the pool as a kid and always loved to fish.  Diane and I will miss him always.
